New Mexico Conference of Churches

Rev. Dr. Barbara E. Dua

Executive Director

The Rev. Dr. Barbara E. DuaThe Rev. Dr. Barbara E. Dua began her duties as Executive Director of the New Mexico Conference of Churches in May, 2000.  She came from Louisville, KY with a broad background of church service.  She has served as pastor to three congregations, as campus minister and most recently, as associate director in the national office of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  Ecumenism has been a part of her life from the beginning.  Her family background includes her paternal relatives as active Roman Catholics and her maternal relatives as Protestant.  She treasures the faith witness from both familes.

Barbara's faith journey has taken her to Ballynahinch, Northern Ireland as an exchange pastor; to the peacekeeping community of Corrymelia, also in Northern Ireland and to the ecumenical Iona community at Iona, Scotland.  She has had the blessing of learning from the interactions with people of faith such as Henri Nouwen, Parker Palmer, Madeleine L'Engle, Walter Wink, Letty Russell, Mercy Odoyoye, Musimbi Kanyora and also from grassroots organizers in communities in which she has served.

Rev. Dua currently serves on the following boards: Governor’s Management Board for Sex Offenders, National Presbyterian Coalition to End Homelessness, Menaul School, The Storehouse, Inc., and the Human Needs Coordinating Council.
